Chicago is, apparently, the second most popular group in US history, behind only the Beach Boys.

Inching dangerously close... (2.00 / 3)
...to the 80's!!!

Heh heh, I have Survivor all loaded up and ready to go!

So many times, it happens too fast
You trade your passion for glory
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive

It's the eye of the tiger
It's the thrill of the fight
Rising up to the challenge of our rival

(okay, no I don't... but it shouldn't be too hard to find)

Btw, I thought you told me last Friday that the University of Cincinnati Marching Band was your favorite band of all time?  Where have their videos been in these diaries, man?

we've got some 70s lined up first. :-) (2.00 / 4)
We still haven't heard from Cheap Trick, the Sex Pistols, Blondie, Tom Petty....did disco happen? Maybe that too.

U of Cincy band is from 2010. A long way to go!!

i hated disco (2.00 / 2)
it always made me aggressive, spray can bass lines, glue and glitter, danskins, bars crowded beyond capacity... noise, noise, noise.

even at 18 or 20, i could NOT stand it.

Simplify.

[ Parent ]
me too (2.00 / 2)

I bet I could find a few that are good (2.00 / 2)
but it stayed around too long and crowded out a lot of more deserving stuff.

Great Essays Shahryar (2.00 / 6)
A few days ago, maybe in the Buffaloed Bash, there was a cigar box instrument.
I posted a comment with a "Canjo", a homemade banjo made with a can.
Well today, I made a "CrackerBacker" guitar.
Here it is.
There are more images linked.
To hear it, there`s a little video of Bligh, Teri`s son, playing it, in the linked ones.

It does look pretty good, even if I say so myself.

Thanks.
The fact that it`s still in one piece & that you can play music with it is great.
More so, the tone is something special.
I`ll post a better audio/video of it tonight.

Homemade instruments... (2.00 / 3)
My favorite will always be the street bucket drummers.

Ran across one in Downtown Portland yesterday (a new guy, actually!).  The other guy I know from Downtown used to make a killing at Portland Saturday Market every weekend at Skidmore Fountain, but I haven't seen him around since early November (when it got cold and started to rain).

Gonna go look through some of my old photos.  I have one of a street drummer from NYC last year when I was hanging around Herald Square with my friend Eddie C that I don't think I ever posted.

Let's see if I can find it...

Nocatz, (2.00 / 4)
I`ve done a little fine tuning on the set up.
It actually sounds very good, keeps in tune very well, & is ready for a few pick-ups.
I`m going to take another little video later today & post it.
I took that one last night to be sure I had something on tape, in case it blew up & blinded us or something.

KNUCK (2.00 / 3)
Took me a while to figure out what to click, where, to hear it, but got there eventually.

It is interesting how it got the tinny bite of a banjo with the can.  It's tuned 'guitar' though ?  Is that an old Fender neck or did you make it?

Nocatz, (2.00 / 4)
You should be able to have direct access with this link.
This is a new video I just took.
This is tuned 'guitar' to open "G".
I asked a neighbor who 'Roadies' for Pat Benatar if he had a neck for me.
He gave me the Fender one.
I went & got some Fender machines & a bridge.
I pressed in the ferrules for the machine-heads, & installed them, measured  the bridge location off another electric guitar, & made a bridge mount.
Here`s what it sounds like.
