We'll start with "those 'Game of Lovers', Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders!" Of mild interest here is that Eric Stewart, later in 10CC, got his start with this group. This particular song is one of the few that Fontana wrote and recorded with the group. Mostly they did covers.
Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders - Like I Did
I'm not sure what the message to this one is. God periodically wipes people out because....?
Hollies - Too Many People
The Byrds doing a Jackie DeShannon song.
Byrds - Don't Doubt Yourself, Babe
And the Searchers doing a P.F. Sloan tune. Sloan wrote 'The Eve of Destruction' and a few tunes for the Turtles, including 'Let me Be'.
Searchers - Take Me For What I'm Worth
I think this next one was done by Johnny Mathis at one point. It's a pretty one.
Billy J Kramer and the Dakotas - The Twelfth of Never
in this next one, an older song but here done in 1965, you can see Darlene Love singing backup (she's the one in the middle) and Delaney Bramlett playing bass (that funny horned instrument). I thought about it because the previous tune reminded me of 'Scarlet Ribbons' and when I called up Jimmie Rogers this popped up. Can't find 'Scarlet Ribbons' but I'm happy to include this one. Love his voice!
