Something somewhat (2.00 / 3)
different.. plus #9 is a song I've loved forever..

The government does not run on unicorn kisses and/or butterfly farts.

Very nice (2.00 / 2)
I was hatched in October of 1958 and have to admit that there were a few of these tunes that I didn't know.

I agree with your #9 selection.  Excellent song.  Also, too, I forgot that Dean Martin really did have a great crooners voice.  By the time I knew who he was, his persona had been remade into a drink holding tipsy guy as opposed to the singer that he had been.

Funny that I didn't know the Elvis song, since we were brought up on that stuff.

BTW?  The Michael Caine "Shit Your Pants" picture that is directly to my left under the heading of STUFF right now is totally making me laugh.  Jeebus, that was funny!

WOOoOOOoooOOOOooo (2.00 / 2)
That's some stuff there fer sure.

I knew
1,2,4,6,7, and 9.  They were played for years after they were hits.

brobin, somehow I thought you were younger....like more than three years from me.  Oh well.

Personal note:  I probably learned the word 'asshole' because of Perez Prado.  Musta been a couple of years later....I distinctly remember  my sisters and cousin....one of them was naming another PP song on that album...'Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White' except they said 'Asshole' instead of 'Apple'.  Hilarity ensued (for them anyway) but that became the name of the song.

Oh.. (2.00 / 2)
I do like that title way better... but then I admit to being a sick fuck.. heh.

was drunk last night but stumbling in tonight (2.00 / 2)
and this is a week old already! 1958 was probably the first year I got immersed in the hit parade. I'd heard plenty of individual songs earlier but 1958....whoa. That had to be when I figured out how to run a radio.

We're so open to anything new when we're that young. I can't believe I would have heard "Volare" or "All in the Game" the same way if I'd been older but to me they're mythology. Every note, the tone of each instrument, is exactly how it should be.

"They're all crooks!" - Shahryar

How great you (2.00 / 2)
wandered in!  Been missing you, your wit and your music too.

For some reason, as I was posting this diary the following song kept going thru my head.. it's a mid 50s redo of a Fats Waller classic..  oh yeah
